A total of 150 Jewish leaders from around the world gather in Israel to “shape the Jewish future.”
“In this painful moment, there is some solace in knowing that they will be laid to rest in dignity in Israel,” the Israeli president wrote on X.
“The commandment of redeeming captives is a supreme duty that embodies the highest bond between a nation and its citizens.”
“They believe in death. We believe in life,” said the Israeli president.
“On behalf of the State of Israel, I bow my head and ask for forgiveness,” wrote Israeli President Isaac Herzog.
The Israeli president and his counterpart also met with Hungarian-born Holocaust survivor Aharon Shevo.
“We must keep fighting for those still held in Gaza,” said Ohad Ben Ami, who spent 491 days in Hamas captivity.
Col. Yonatan Steinberg was killed in action fighting Hamas terrorists.
Alar Karis and members of his delegation placed yellow ribbon pins on their lapel in solidarity with the captives.
“I hope to be able to see many more Arab countries join the circle of peace with Israel in our region,” the president told the ambassadors.
“These are critical moments in which I repeat my call to complete all stages of the deal and swiftly bring back all our abducted brothers and sisters—every last one of them.”
“Yarden has returned home, but the home remains incomplete,” the family of Yarden Bibas said in a statement.
