Until recently, Islamic Relief Worldwide had received hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars and was an official partner of the U.S. government.
In addition to anti-Semitic statements, Islamic Relief Worldwide and its affiliates have ties to Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood.
“It is imperative for civil society organizations and faith-based actors to exhibit a zero-tolerance policy towards anti-Semitism and all forms of discrimination online and offline by putting in place effective measures,” said Miguel Moratinos.
Despite accusations of anti-Semitism, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) is due to speak at a fundraising event alongside a senior charity official who has published social-media posts praising the killing of Jews.
Congress is investigating a 2014 decision by the Obama administration to give $200,000 to the Islamic Relief Agency, which the United States designated as a terrorist group in 2004 because it provided funding to Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.
