Israel has returned to Jordan the bodies of two terrorists who crossed the border in October to carry out a shooting in the Dead Sea area, the Israel Defense Forces announced on Wednesday morning.

“Following the directive of the political echelon, the bodies of the two terrorists who infiltrated into Israel from Jordan and conducted a shooting attack against IDF troops south of the Dead Sea on Oct. 18, 2024, were returned to Jordan overnight,” the IDF said.

Two Israelis were wounded, one moderately and one lightly, in the morning attack at Moshav Neot HaKikar in the northern Arava area.

Both terrorists were shot and killed by Israeli forces.

In September, three security guards at the Allenby Bridge crossing in the Jordan Valley were murdered in a terrorist shooting.

The gunman, who was killed during the attack, was later identified as Maher D’yab Hussein Jazi, a 39-year-old truck driver from the city of Irbid.

The Allenby Bridge, known in Jordan as the King Hussein Bridge, is located around three miles east of Jericho and connects Israel’s Judea and Samaria region with the Hashemite kingdom. The terminal is used mostly by Palestinians and foreign tourists and is forbidden for Israeli citizens, except for Muslims making a pilgrimage to Mecca.
