The Israeli foreign minister is traveling to Brussels to stress the need to destroy Hamas and secure the freedom of all hostages held in Gaza.
Jerusalem “has no choice but to hunt down and destroy Hamas,” the visiting American tweeted.
After Claudine Gay announced her resignation as president of Harvard University, the Associated Press, among others, blamed conservatives.
“Today, I assumed the position of foreign minister. Our top priority—the hostages. The hostages. The hostages,” said incoming Foreign Minister Israel Katz.
The Likud Party member replaces Eli Cohen, who will take up the Energy and Infrastructure portfolio.
Katz previously served as Jerusalem’s top diplomat in 2019-2020.
“No electrical switch will be turned on, no water hydrant will be opened and no fuel truck will enter until the Israeli abductees are returned home.”

Fellow Likud parliamentarian Israel Katz will replace Cohen during the second half of the incoming government’s term.
Katz previously served as Jerusalem’s top diplomat, whereas Dermer was ambassador to the United States in 2013-2021.
