Staff Sgt. Lavi Lipshitz of Modi’in was buried on Wednesday at the Mount Herzl Military Cemetery in Jerusalem. The 20-year-old, who served in the Givati Infantry Brigade’s reconnaissance unit, was killed while fighting in the northern Gaza Strip.

Photos showed Shlomit Lipshitz giving a final salute to her son, who had a passion for photography and entrepreneurship.

On his Instagram page, the late soldier had shared striking photos, many in black-and-white or with limited color. The posts have since become memorial sites, with people adding messages to and about Lipshitz. In one recent comment, the Israeli musician Rotem Cohen wrote in Hebrew, “May God avenge your blood, beloved of us all.”

IDF Spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari said Lipshitz fought “bravely in a fierce battle.”

Sixteen Israeli soldiers were killed in action this week.

“Iran has not responded yet,” a Pakistani source told Reuters.
Suspect in his 50s tried to attack officer and commander before being neutralized; motive under investigation amid recent rise in attacks.
The UAVs were used “to threaten Americans and indiscriminately target civilians in neighboring countries.”
On Sunday, the Gulf state’s air defenses downed nine ballistic missiles, a cruise missile and 50 drones fired from the Islamic Republic.

The premier said the president expressed appreciation for Israel’s help in the daring rescue.
The U.S. president earlier warned that “Tuesday will be Power Plant Day and Bridge Day” if Iran does not open the Strait of Hormuz.
