According to new guidelines published by Israel’s Civil Service Commission, government meetings and events will be getting a health makeover, with fattening carbohydrate-heavy foods getting kicked to the curb in favor of more nutritious alternatives.

The new dietary rules for government gatherings, publicized by Calcalist, include the provision of fresh fruits, vegetables, rice crackers and unsweetened yogurt, and exclude candies, sodas and pastries, including the ubiquitous Israeli favorite, the boureka.

The reduction of high-calorie, high-sodium, high-fat and high-carbohydrate processed foods will take place at government-run hospitals, tax authority offices, parliament and courts.
