The paper also refused to publish a letter to the editor on the basis that pro-Israel students are not entitled to be part of a “dialogue that gives a platform to ideas which dehumanize a group of people.”

The Palestine Solidarity Campaign blamed his inability to enter the United Kingdom on “growing efforts by Israel and its allies to suppress Palestinian voices and the movements for Palestinian rights.”
He plans to discuss “British state and non-state actors” using “a variety of methods to suppress the democratic mobilizing of those working for progressive causes.”
Raising eyebrows within the Jewish and international community, the conference was supported and promoted by the terror-affiliated Palestinian National and Islamic Forces, and attended by leaders of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine and the Palestinian Liberation Front.
He opposes “the Jewish right to self-determination and Israel’s existence, openly calling for its destruction as a Jewish state.”
In his talk, Omar Barghouti accused Israel of being an “apartheid state.”
The Jewish communities of Portugal and Belgium also voiced concern.
