Though unflavored beers have historically been considered kosher, new approaches can “compromise” the kosher status of even “seemingly straightforward brews,” the Orthodox Union stated.
“We should aspire to much more than basic civility, and with the Almighty’s help and New Yorkers holding each other accountable, we will,” said executive vice president Rabbi Josh Joseph.
The senator told JNS that the rabbi was “very substantive, but the depth of his personal friendship and his commitment to people was remarkable.”
Hauer was a “trusted adviser, cherished colleague and wise counsellor” and a “bridge-builder whose faith, humility and moral clarity inspired all who knew him,” William Daroff, CEO of the Conference of Presidents, told JNS.
“Attacks on houses of worship are illegal, and the Justice Department will not tolerate interference with Americans’ First Amendment rights,” a Justice Department official said.
“Our hope is that they will continue investing in all children’s education, whether they attend public, charter, Jewish, faith-based or otherwise,” Sydney Altfield, of the Orthodox Union Teach Coalition, told JNS.
“Rabbi Wein was a uniquely impactful Rav whose work, perspective and voice profoundly influenced generations of Orthodox Jewry,” the OU said.
“This is a groundbreaking moment for school choice and for Jewish families who strive to provide their children with a strong, values-based education,” stated Nathan Diament, of the OU.
Rabbi A.D. Motzen, of Agudah, said that though disappointed, “we are not giving up.”
“Jewish communities are facing a real crisis with a real set of threats, and Congress must respond with real action,” Nathan Diament said.
“I can’t describe the excitement I felt when I saw the light in the eyes of the women whose husbands are fighting right now,” one volunteer said.
