Elad Strohmayer, the new Consul General of Israel to the Midwest, officially began his tenure in Chicago in September.

He brings more than 15 years of diplomatic experience, most recently serving as director of the Department for Congressional Affairs in Jerusalem. His career has taken him from Angola and Philadelphia to Washington, D.C., where he was spokesperson of the Israeli embassy to the United States.

A native of Bat Yam in central Israel in the Tel Aviv District, he combines his global perspective with dedication to connecting with people and strengthening partnerships across the Midwest.

Strohmayer said, “From Israel to Chicago, my mission as consul general is to build bridges that bring people together. These bridges are built not only in words but in actions—through partnerships, through innovation and through everyday connections that strengthen our communities.”

He added: “I believe those connections are found in the conversations we share, the traditions we celebrate and the collaborations that move us forward. I look forward to meeting leaders, students and neighbors across the Midwest, and to deepening the bonds that unite us.”
