A new initiative is shining a spotlight on Israel as one of the world’s most dynamic and innovative higher education destinations, where academic excellence, groundbreaking research and Jewish values intersect.

TheFutureIsCalling.org, launched by the Tzemach David Educational Foundation, connects American Jewish students and families with Israel’s top-tier universities—renowned for their global rankings in technology, medicine and the sciences; Nobel laureate faculty; and unique programs that blend rigorous academics with rich Jewish studies and community life.

World-Class Universities at the Heart of Innovation

Israel’s universities consistently rank among the top institutions worldwide for research, entrepreneurship and STEM excellence. Students can study in English-taught degree programs at globally recognized institutions, including:

  • Technion–Israel Institute of Technology, known as “Israel’s MIT,” a powerhouse in engineering, computer science and biotechnology. Technion alumni have founded or led 67% of Israel’s Nasdaq-listed companies, fueling Israel’s reputation as the Start-Up Nation.
  • Tel Aviv University, a leader in medical innovation and neuroscience, is pioneering research in spinal-cord regeneration and biomedicine while fostering deep ties to Israel’s high-tech sector.
  • The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, home to Nobel laureate faculty and research that has transformed fields from agriculture and chemistry to cybersecurity and artificial intelligence.
  • Bar-Ilan University, which uniquely integrates advanced scientific research with Jewish studies, enables students to pursue degrees that connect ethical inquiry with technological innovation.
  • Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, one of Israel’s leading research universities and among the world leaders in many fields, such as engineering, health, natural sciences, computing, humanities and social sciences.
  • Jerusalem College of Technology, where students engage in cutting-edge research in renewable energy, robotics and computer engineering, while maintaining strong ties to Jewish tradition.

Direct Access to Innovation and Research Excellence

Students studying in Israel gain unparalleled access to the global innovation ecosystem at the core of the Start-Up Nation. Partnerships between universities and industry leaders offer hands-on research opportunities with scientists and entrepreneurs driving global breakthroughs.

Israel’s universities and affiliated research institutions collectively hold more than 10,000 patents and have produced 9 Nobel Prize winners, a remarkable achievement for a country of Israel’s size.

Academic Excellence Meets Jewish Identity

What sets Israeli higher education apart is its seamless blend of world-class academics and Jewish life. Students can pursue degrees in high-demand fields—from computer science and biomedical engineering to psychology and international relations—while maintaining their Jewish learning and observance.

Integrated programs allow students to engage in Jewish studies and Torah learning alongside their chosen academic path, creating an environment where intellectual rigor and spiritual growth go hand in hand.

Accessible and Affordable Global Education

With more than 100-degree programs taught entirely in English, American students can earn a globally recognized degree in Israel at 60% to 75% lower cost than comparable U.S. institutions. Transitional programs, mentorship and strong campus communities ensure that students adapt smoothly—academically, socially and culturally—from their very first semester.
