RE-LAW LLP announced that it has filed a Freedom of Information request with the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) on behalf of The Lawfare Project and the #EndJewHatred civil-rights movement.
RE-LAW LLP is requesting all documentation regarding the doctrine and the TDSB’s application of anti-Palestinian racism within the possession, control and power of the TDSB. This includes all documentation and community input that contributed to the report recently adopted by the TDSB.
“TDSB must be transparent and show the public why it decided to include language that will do nothing more than put a larger target on the backs of the Jewish community and silence their voices,” said Brooke Goldstein, founder and executive director of The Lawfare Project. “In a time of increased antisemitism in Canada and around the world, transparency will help cast a light on the antisemitic influences that hide in shadows to influence school boards to condone Jew-hatred.”
The decision to launch a Freedom of Information request comes after the TDSB adopted an anti-racism report, ‘‘Combating Hate and Racism Strategy,” which included ‘‘anti-Palestinian racism” but entirely excluded antisemitism, which has skyrocketed across Canada.
