“No matter what your views on Israel, using Nazi imagery to describe it is not only inaccurate and offensive, but deeply anti-Semitic,” said Scott Richman, regional director of the Anti-Defamation League NY/NJ.
Included in the letter are seven public anti-Semitic posts that Facebook refused to remove, despite requests by the Anti-Defamation League.
“Anti-Semitism continues to be a pervasive threat; T-shirts and coffee mugs that feature neo-Nazi symbols and Hitler icons make this danger clear,” said David Ibsen of the Counter Extremism Project.
Mary Miller said she has talked with Jewish leaders across the country and is “grateful to them for their kindness and forthrightness.”
World Jewish Congress executive director Betty Ehrenberg said: “Hateful rhetoric like this is unacceptable from an elected official chosen to stand up for freedom, democracy and equality.”
In addition to swastikas, concentration-camp insinuations and profanity, students and teachers were subjected to the theft of private details, including credit-card numbers and addresses.
