Brown University, more public schools under Title VI investigation

Brown University in Providence, R.I., the public schools in Teaneck, N.J. and the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District in California are under investigation for alleged violation of Title VI of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, which prevents “discrimination involving shared ancestry,” the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights announced recently.

The office has a total of 92 open investigations—some of them multiple investigations of the same institutions.

It updates the list weekly. Earlier in the month, it announced investigations of two schools and three districts.
