The election was seen by Jewish groups on where the voters stand on their support for Israel, with Nina Turner’s alliance with “The Squad,” and previous actions and tweets that were critical of Israel, causing concern among some pro-Israel groups.
The tweet questioned the Jewish Democrat group and its executive director on their silence following the latest round of anti-Jewish, anti-Israel rhetoric by Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.).
Her nomination was hailed by numerous Jewish organizations, which over the past months had been lobbying the White House to appoint a candidate as violent acts of anti-Semitism have surged.
AIPAC celebrated the bill’s passage, pointing out that the Israel aid was passed without conditions, which have in recent months been called for by progressive Democrats.
Two leading candidates—Nina Turner and Shontel Brown—have staked out vastly differing views on Israel, with pro-Israel groups throwing their weight behind Brown while deriding Turner’s hostility towards Israel and support from “The Squad.”
“Anti-Semitism is not just a Jewish problem. Anti-Semitism is everyone’s problem. Our Jewish neighbors cannot be left to fend off this scourge by themselves. If we do nothing, evil will thrive, and it will rule the day,” said Pastor John Hagee.
Pastor John Hagee was the main draw with his spirited sermons and preacher’s delivery, though former Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley proved a powerful voice for the Jewish state.
“Our support for Israel has no bounds, has no jurisdiction. We go where the fight is. If it’s in politics, we’re there; if it’s on campus, our students are there. If it’s on social media, our employees are there,” said Sandra Hagee Parker.
