The Iran-backed Houthi terrorist organization vowed Tuesday to step up its actions in support of Hamas following Israel’s renewed airstrikes in Gaza.
“We condemn the Zionist enemy’s resumption of aggression against the Gaza Strip,” said the Houthis’ supreme political council. “The Palestinian people will not be left alone in this battle, and Yemen will continue its support and assistance, and escalate confrontation steps.”
The statement came after the Israel Defense Forces carried out what it described as “extensive” airstrikes on Hamas targets overnight Monday.
Meanwhile, U.S. forces continued operations against the Houthis in Yemen on Sunday, after the terror group launched fresh attacks on American aircraft carriers in the Red Sea. Since Hamas’s Oct. 7 attack on Israel, the Houthis have fired over 100 missiles and drones at commercial and military ships, sinking two vessels and killing four sailors. They have also launched more than 350 drones and missiles at Israel.
The Houthis halted their attacks when a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas took effect on Jan. 19 but have since threatened to resume strikes. On Feb. 28, Houthi leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi warned that if Israel resumes combat in Gaza, “we will rain fire upon all areas of the enemy regime [Israel], especially Tel Aviv.”
