The Nahal Brigade troops were killed by a blast in a booby-trapped building in the southern Gaza city.
“We are sending an important message to our dear reservists, correcting the injustice done to some of the spouses,” said Likud Party MK Ofir Katz.
“We are committed—in both the civilian and military spheres—to returning the residents safely to their communities and their homes. This is one of the objectives of the war and we are not conceding it.”
The military is evaluating indications that the deadly fire may have been caused by secondary detonations, says IDF official.
Algeria is expected to urge the council to enforce the recent ICJ ruling on Israel’s military operation in the city.
Witnesses told “Reuters” that they saw the armored vehicles roaming the area.
The IDF said the strike was carried out in accordance with international law, was based on intelligence and executed using precision weaponry.
“What happened on Oct. 7 is pure evil, and can never be forgotten,” said the former ambassador to the United Nations.
“We were in shock, it was a very sad day for us, for his kids, Emily, 10, and Yariv, 12, his parents, his friends and for the country,”
The exchange of fire took place near the Rafah Crossing to Sinai.
The IDF said the strike was carried out in accordance with international law and that it took steps to avoid civilian casualties.
“We all learned that adherence to routine procedures is important,” an IDF spokesman said.
