A Jordanian man who allegedly stabbed another garage worker in Petach Tikvah last Thursday shouted “Allahu Akbar” before police tasered him, a newly published video of the incident reveals.

The suspect allegedly stabbed the 30-year-old nephew of the car repair shop’s owner with either a pole or a kitchen knife, seriously wounding him. Police used a Taser to subdue the Jordanian before arresting him.

The victim’s uncle—Moshe Yamin—said that the suspect shouted “Allahu Akbar” before the stabbing and then before being tasered by police. The video that surfaced on social media on Saturday night appears to back up the eyewitness testimony of the police encounter.

The Israel Police and the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) are investigating the possibility that it was a terrorist attack, although the incident was initially defined by emergency and rescue services as a “work accident” and the investigation revealed that there was a previous conflict between the two men that may have led to the stabbing.

The victim was taken to Beilinson Hospital in Petach Tikvah in serious condition.

Yamin was quoted as saying that the Jordanian had been working there for six months and had proper work permits. He said that the man got into an argument with his nephew and stabbed him with what he described as a kitchen knife.

Other eyewitnesses confirmed that he yelled “Allahu Akbar.”
