Friends of the Israel Defense Forces (FIDF) will hold its 2020 national gala online for the first time as a result of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The philanthropic evening, themed “A Night of Heroes,” will take place on Sept. 13 at 7 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.

The gala brings together thousands of supporters representing chapters across the United States to express their appreciation for Israeli soldiers who risk their lives to protect the State of Israel and the Jewish people worldwide.

A segment titled “Air, Land and Sea” will open the event and show active-duty soldiers on a training mission. Another segment focuses on a family’s multigenerational story, highlighting FIDF’s “Witnesses in Uniform” program.

The program will feature several segments honoring IDF soldiers, including lone soldiers who join the IDF with no immediate family in Israel.

FIDF national chairman Rabbi Peter Weintraub and Israeli-American actress, model and host Moran Atias will preside as masters of ceremonies.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is scheduled to participate in the gala.

FIDF national director and CEO Maj. Gen. (Res.) Meir Klifi-Amir, who will be succeeded in September by incoming national Director and CEO Steven Weil, will give a farewell speech after six years of unprecedented organizational growth.
