The incident is a reminder to “embrace each other and our history,” says Lori Palatnik of the Jewish organization Momentum. “Now at a time when no Jew is imprisoned; our only prison is ignorance of our own history. Now it’s no longer ‘let my people go.’ Now it’s got to be ‘let my people know.’ ”

“At a time of rising violence anti-Semitism across this country no Jew, no building, no part of our community, no neighborhood will stand alone,” said the Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Boston’s executive director Jeremy Burton.

The rabbi is being treated at a hospital and remains in stable condition. Police arrested the male attacker; a firearm and knife were found.
