An incorrect address typed into a food delivery service led to an antisemitic attack with a car, an arrest and now a hate-crime charge.
In the Monsey area of Ramapo, N.Y., police answered a call on April 4 regarding a dispute between two men. An incorrect address entered into an online food-delivery service resulted in the driver—32-year-old Wensley Volcy—needing to take more time before arriving, according to an incident report.
Upon reaching the destination, Volcy allegedly berated the victim with antisemitic language before hitting him with the car, causing minor injuries, and fleeing the scene.
Ramapo Police detectives identified Volcy and his vehicle and arrested him the next day. He has been charged with assault in the second degree as a hate crime; criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree; and leaving the scene of a personal injury accident.
