The Los Angeles City Council will consider a measure on April 26 recognizing Israel’s 75th anniversary and the city’s special relationship with the Jewish state.

Paul Krekorian, the council president, and council members Bob Blumenfield and Katy Yaroslovsky will propose the resolution, which the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles helped draft. It urges the city to celebrate Israel’s anniversary, praise the Jewish state’s growth, recognize its people’s global impact and praise its pursuit of peace, notably through the Abraham Accords.

“The United States’ unbreakable alliance with Israel has been integral to her survival,” stated Joanna Mendelson, senior vice president of community engagement at the Federation. “This connection has led to significant collaborations between Israel, California and the City of Los Angeles.”

“Israel has developed an advanced, entrepreneurial economy, and is among the world’s leaders in the high-tech industry,” per the resolution.

Los Angeles is home to the highest number of Israeli residents outside the State of Israel, according to Federation.
