Experts Discuss Israel’s Legal Rights to Judea and Samaria in Light of UAE Peace Deal

HonestReporting Canada webinar on Aug 30 explores key details of Israel’s legal rights.

On August 13, Israel and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) announced an historic peace deal, establishing full diplomatic relations, but there was one detail about the agreement that was largely ignored: in exchange for a normalization of relations with the UAE, Israel agreed to “temporarily pause” its sovereignty application (“annexation”) of Judea and Samaria (the “West Bank”).

What does this mean for the future of the peace process between Israel and the Palestinians, and why did it factor into Israel’s agreement with the UAE? How does this impact Israel and the Jewish people’s legal rights to Judea and Samaria?

On August 30, HonestReporting Canada brought together two esteemed experts on this issue to answer these questions and more.

Professor Eugene Kontorovich is a world-renowned expert on international law and the Arab-Israeli conflict, and is a Professor of Law at George Mason University.

Arsen Ostrovsky is a leading international human rights lawyer and Middle East Foreign Policy analyst based in Tel Aviv.

These two thinkers discussed both Israel’s legal rights to the land it claims as its own, and the current state of Israel’s sovereignty plans in light of the new peace deal.

The webinar took place on Sunday, August 30 at 12:30pm eastern time, and the details to join are as follows: * zoom.us/j/97414498125 * Meeting ID: 974 1449 8125 * To call in: 647-374-4685 For details and to schedule an interview with our experts, please contact robert@honestreporting.ca .
