In a remarkable demonstration of support for the land and people of Israel, over 100 high school students attended Jewish National Fund-USA’s High School Summit in Boston. With an engaging program and exciting speakers, the summit provided valuable tools for students seeking to become informed advocates for the land and people of Israel.
The high school students were treated to an amazing program featuring sessions about the organization’s humanitarian work, how Zionism and Judaism can inform their college and career choices, and even a special play called Herzl’s Dream by acclaimed producer, Steven Oberman.
“I am here because I believe the best way to combat hate and antisemitism is through education, and a valid Jewish education is the number one thing teens deserve in 2022,” said High School Summit Co-Chair Eli West, a Bethesda, MD native attending The Masters School, Dobbs Ferry, NY. “We want young people to be at the forefront of modern Jewish and Zionist education by bringing their critical and analytical thinking skills to the forefront.”
The conference also served as an informal reunion, with many of the high school students in attendance also being alumni of Alexander Muss High School in Israel (Muss), Jewish National Fund-USA’s flagship college-prep study abroad experience in Israel. A Saturday night soiree allowed the former classmates to connect and relax with dinner, games, music, and more. However, even while looking back, they still understood the importance of carrying what they learned forward.
“I am here today to inspire the next generation and to continue the lessons that Muss has taught me to become a leader for my generation,” said High School Summit Co-Chair Barri Seitz, a Senior at The Weber School in Atlanta, GA. “I’m also here for the networking and to be able to meet Jewish leaders and learn from them, as well as learn more about Israel, antisemitism, and Zionism.”
