KKL-JNF holds memorial ceremony honoring Bondi Beach victims

In a demonstration of solidarity and grief, memorial candles were lit and prayers recited.

The ceremony at the ANZAC (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) Memorial Center in Beersheva expressed solidarity with the Jewish community in Australia at its darkest hour, while also highlighting the historic bond and shared values between the State of Israel and the Jewish Diaspora.

Attendees included Rabbi Oshri Avichzer, deputy mayor of Beersheva; Lyndall Sachs, Australia’s ambassador to Israel; Jewish Agency CEO Yehuda Setton; KKL-JNF Australia desk director Efrat Mizrachi; World WIZO president Anat Widor; JNF Australia representatives in Israel, Gideon Shavit and Ze’ev Kedem; as well as public representatives, community organizations and representatives of bereaved families.

In a demonstration of profound solidarity and grief, memorial candles were lit, and prayers were recited.

The event culminated with the unveiling of the memorial plaque installed at the museum plaza.

This gesture honors the victims and represents a tangible expression of the bond, camaraderie and solidarity among the communities and organizations participating in the ceremony.
