In a remarkable melding of art and history, Young Israel of Sunny Isles Beach has installed a mezuzah crafted from a piece of a missile intercepted by the Iron Dome. It was created by Israeli artist Yaron Bob, who lives on the border with Gaza. Bob transforms rockets intended for destruction into beautiful Judaica, infusing them with a new purpose.

Rabbi Meir Haber of Young Israel of Sunny Isles Beach stated that “in this historic moment, as we install a mezuzah forged from a missile intercepted by the Iron Dome, we are not just commemorating Israel’s strength and resilience; we are embracing a profound transformation. This mezuzah, crafted by the talented Yaron Bob, represents a journey from fear to faith. It is a testament to our enduring spirit and the unyielding hope that defines us as a community and as a people.”

These cases were generously donated by Harriet and Jack Feintuch. In their words, “this mezuzah, repurposed from a symbol of war, serves as a powerful reminder of our collective strength and hope. It’s our honor to contribute to the synagogue in a way that vividly commemorates our enduring spirit and unites us in a profound history of perseverance.”

The synagogue invites the community to visit and experience the beauty and symbolism of these mezuzot.
