First four of 11 Jewish victims of Pittsburgh synagogue shooting laid to rest

More than 1,800 people came to offer their condolences to the families and friends of those who will be laid to rest this week.

The first of the 11 victims of Saturday’s shooting at the Tree of Life*Or L’Simcha Synagogue in Pittsburgh, where a gunman killed 11 people and injured six others, were laid to rest on Tuesday.

More than 1,800 people—some from across the country—came to offer their condolences to the family of brothers David Rosenthal, 54, and Cecil Rosenthal, 59, at Rodef Shalom, another synagogue in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood where the shooting occurred.

Services were also held for Jerry Rabinowitz, a 66-year-old family physician, and retiree Daniel Stein, 71, whose name was the first to be publicized as one of the perished.

Below is the funeral schedule for the other victims.

  • Wednesday: Joyce Fienberg, 75, and Melvin Wax, 87
  • Thursday: Sylvan Simon, 88, and Bernice Simon, 84; Richard Gottfried, 65
  • Friday: Rose Mallinger, 97

Funeral arrangements had not been announced for Irving Younger, 69.

The two heads of towns on the Lebanese border oppose relocation as residents receive short “reprieve” hotel stays instead.

“The expansion of our emergency services will help us better care for patients with the most serious injuries, ensuring they receive the specialized treatment they need, when it matters most,” the hospital said.
“Once again your decisive leadership brought another great victory to America,” the Israeli leader says.
“My intent was to honor our Jewish neighbors and friends,” Nathalie Kanani stated. “We are all human, and even with the best intentions, honest mistakes can happen.”
The man was recognized by police officers while attending a court hearing of the three other suspects connected to the case.
The U.S. president warned that the U.S. military will begin targeting Iranian power plants and bridges on Tuesday if the Strait of Hormuz is not opened.
