US envoy slams UNHRC commission’s report on Israel

Ambassador Michèle Taylor denounces “disproportionate, biased treatment of Israel at the HRC.”

Michèle Taylor, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, denounced the report released last week by the open-ended Commission of Inquiry (COI) on Israel that branded the Jewish state’s presence in Judea and Samaria as illegal under international law.

“We are deeply concerned by the Israel Commission of Inquiry’s one-sided report, which contributes to the polarization of the situation and does not advance prospects for peace,” Taylor tweeted on Saturday evening. “The COI’s open-ended nature and vague scope, along with the anti-Semitic remarks made by a member of the commission, further demonstrate the disproportionate, biased treatment of Israel at the HRC.”

Taylor’s remarks follow the report’s overwhelming condemnation by Jewish organizations internationally.
