In a call this week with Iran’s foreign minister, diplomats “reaffirmed Israel’s right to protect its security and people in adherence with international law.”
Israel’s top diplomat called the strikes on Iran a “measure of last resort” to thwart Iranian nuclear weapons development and missile attacks on Israel.
The letters “contain references to Gaza, Israel or events in which Jewish people were killed or otherwise attacked,” the Justice Department stated.
Foggy Bottom said it is forming a Middle East task force but isn’t ready to announce potential evacuation plans.
Ahmed al-Sharaa’s new government should also “take necessary steps to ban and deport Palestinian terror groups,” said Dorothy Shea, the interim U.S. ambassador.
Anyone “supporting the efforts of this terror regime should know that we have very good intelligence and we use it,” Israel’s U.N. ambassador stated.
“We look forward to rescheduling the address in the near future and send our prayers to the people of Israel and the Middle East,” Johnson wrote.
A State Department official said Iran’s actions that led to the reprimand “are hardly the actions of a state seeking to quell doubts about its intentions.”
