Naomi Linder Kahn is director of the International Division of Regavim, a research-based think tank and lobbying group dedicated to preserving Israel’s resources and sovereignty.

It has become clear that another Bedouin outpost, built with European Union funding a few hundred feet away from Khan al-Ahmar and the subject of two separate High Court petitions, is about to become the newest front in the protracted battle for control of the Adumim region.
This track is clearly and unmistakably guided by an organizational master plan engineered to facilitate the creation of Palestinian territorial contiguity, isolation of Israeli settlements, disruption of Israel’s territorial contiguity and more.
This recent decision reeks of cowardice and makes a laughingstock of Israel’s sovereignty and commitment to law and order.
The community’s traditional culture and clan-based lifestyle will be fully protected and insulated from outside influences in a location only four miles away that provides electricity, running water, a government-built school and many other basic modern “conveniences.”
The new neighborhood will offer services that the Jahalin can only dream of today—services the P.A. and E.U. have never offered them, including health clinics, public transportation, proper schools, access to employment and more.
Members of the Supreme Court have the power to veto nominees to the court, making them a self-appointed elite rather than an elected body that represents the range of views and backgrounds that comprise Israeli society.
