White supremacist Richard Spencer was punched in the face during a live broadcast in 2017, leading to a viral debate about the propriety of punching Nazis. More recently, Natan Levy, an Ultimate Fighting Championship mixed martial arts fighter who is Jewish, took several swings at a Holocaust denier during a bout.
The fight originated on X (formerly Twitter) when Levy wrote on July 10 that a white nationalist, who had posted a shirtless photo, was “built like a chopstick” and certainly no threat. Someone who goes by “Ben” responded: “I’ll drive to Vegas any day of the week to spar you on behalf of Nicholas J. Fuentes and America First.” (Fuentes is a Holocaust denier and white supremacist.)
Levy posted a video of the fight last Thursday.
The bearded Fuentes fan with fluffy red hair defends his fighting abilities, bragging about his years of training and that “I have striking. I have power. I have the size.”
Before the fight begins, Levy asks Ben, “Who’s Nicholas Fuentes? Tell me.”
Ben describes the 25-year-old as “the leader of America First. It’s a political movement based on furthering Christian values in the United States.” Ben added that he was “just messing around” and “not a hateful person” but rather someone who loves everyone.
In response to Levy’s comment that Fuentes denies the Holocaust, Ben says the latter is “more of a revisionist.” Levy asks what is being revised, and Ben says the number of those murdered has changed over time. Asked how many were killed, Ben said he “wouldn’t know off the top of my head.”
Levy responds that it was six million, and each had a face. “Let’s go to the cage,” he says. “You know, it’s just a kid, probably a dumb kid. Not gonna hurt him too bad, but a lesson has to be taught here about trolling. Education is painful sometimes.”
Ben lands some punches and kicks but Levy wipes the floor with him, repeatedly. Eventually, Ben has had enough. In the end, with their arms around each other, Ben says that “Six million Jews were killed in the Holocaust.” “Murdered,” Levy corrects. Ben then says, “Six million Jews were murdered in the Holocaust.”
“OK. That’s good now,” Levy concludes, before hurling an obscenity at Fuentes.
