The Israel Defense Forces and Israel Border Police overnight Tuesday demolished the home in Qalqilya, Samaria of one of the terrorists involved in the murder last year of Amnon Muchtar, 66.
The military released video of the demolition.
On June 22, 2024, Khalil and other members of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorist group opened fire on the Muchtar’s vehicle. The father of five reportedly owned a vegetable store and had traveled to Qalqilya to buy produce.
Muchtar was reportedly transferred to an Israeli ambulance at the entrance to the city by Palestinian medics. Images circulating online appeared to show that his car had been set on fire.
The IDF eliminated Khalil and Jamal Abu Haniyeh, who was also involved in the attack, in drone strikes in the Tulkarem area in western Samaria in August. Haniyeh’s residence was demolished in January.
Israelis are barred from entering Qalqilya and other regions of Judea and Samaria under full Palestinian administrative and security control, collectively designated as Area A under the Oslo Accords.
On Tuesday, elite forces operating under Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) intelligence guidance eliminated multiple armed terrorists in Jenin and nearby Qabatiya, and arrested a senior terror suspect. Israeli forces encountered several armed terrorists who had barricaded themselves inside a building in Jenin. After an exchange of fire, two of the terrorists were eliminated and another wounded, according to the IDF.
A military source highlighted the growing threat in Judea and Samaria, telling JNS that, “In the past year alone, there have been over 2,000 attempted terrorist attacks. Some we managed to prevent, others we did not. We have seen attacks carried out, and we launched this operation because we continue to see the intent, motivation and capability to carry out terror attacks.”
