Vernikov, 37, a Jewish Ukrainian-American, told JNS of her victory in Brooklyn: “People were angry with what the Democrats are doing to this country. People were ready for a change. They believed I was that change.”
Ukrainian-born Inna Vernikov, who practices immigration and divorce law, says she was energized to run for New York City Council by distress over the state of the city and a belief in a two-party system that provides viable checks and choices.
“I am passionate about empowering women to take part in the conversation and have a seat at the table, and I think that the world would be a better place if more women did that,” said Inna Vernikov, chairwoman of Women’s Committee for Americans Against Antisemitism.
