The Israeli Air Force intercepted an attack drone launched “from the east” into southern Israel on Thursday morning, the IDF said, using a phrase that typically refers to an attack originating from Iraq.

No injuries were reported in the incident, which did not trigger alarms according to protocol, the military said.

A blast that occurred in a residential high-rise building in the central Israeli city of Yavne, northeast of Ashdod, on Monday morning was caused by a drone launched from Yemen, according to the IDF.

On Nov. 17, a drone intercepted over central Israel entered Israeli airspace from the east. According to the Israeli military, an impact was confirmed near Moshav Kfar Hanagid, which abuts Yavne. A fire apparently sparked by an interceptor fragment was brought under control.

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq, an umbrella organization composed of several Iranian-backed Shi’ite militias, has been carrying out daily drone attacks on Israel since the Hamas-led massacre in southern Israel on Oct. 7, 2023. The Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen have also launched many drones and missiles at the Jewish state over the past year in support of the Hamas terrorist group in Gaza.
