Two Syrian soldiers were wounded by an Israeli missile strike on targets in the Damascus area on Saturday, Syrian state media reported.

A number of missiles were launched from northern Israel just after 11 a.m., triggering air-defense systems, a Syrian military source told the Syrian Arab News Agency.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), a U.K.-based war monitor affiliated with the Syrian opposition, reported that five militiamen belonging to Lebanon’s Hezbollah and other Iran-backed militias were killed in the strikes.

According to SOHR, the target of the strikes was a weapons-and-ammunition shipment, belonging to these militias, which had been on its way to Lebanon. The shipment was completely destroyed, according to the group.

Syria accused Israel of carrying out an airstrike in southwestern Syria on Oct. 25, causing damage but no casualties. According to SOHR, those strikes targeted missile batteries on the outskirts of the city of al-Ba’ath and the village of al-Krum, in Quneitra Governorate.
