Israeli forces apprehended a Palestinian near Saffa, in the Binyamin region of Samaria, on Saturday, on suspicion that he used his personal firearm for hunting earlier in the day, the Israel Defense Forces said.
The man allegedly went hunting adjacent to the Hasmonean checkpoint, near the city of Modi’in, raising suspicion of a terrorist attack.
Israeli security forces later identified the Palestinian as a hunter who opened fire less than a mile away from Modi’in’s security fence.
Guided by the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet), the IDF and Israel Border Police located and detained the suspect.
His weapon was located and confiscated, and he was transferred to the Israel Police for further processing, the IDF said.
