Palestinian youth killed in clashes between IDF, gunmen near Nablus

A Palestinian youth was killed near Nablus on Wednesday night during a gun battle between armed Palestinians and Israeli security forces.

Israeli forces came under fire during an arrest operation in the outskirts of Balata, according to the Israel Defense Forces.

The soldiers returned fire, and several hits were identified, the IDF said in a statement.

The victim was identified by Palestinian media as Amer Abu Zayton, 16. Both the PLO and Fatah confirmed that he had participated in the clashes, according to Ynet.

Two suspects were apprehended during the operation, and arrests were also made in several other Palestinian towns and cities, according to the IDF.

Israeli forces were also attacking during an operation in Qalandiya, north of Jerusalem. Two terror suspects were apprehended during the operation, and ammunition was seized, according to the IDF.

Palestinians stoned Israeli troops during the raid, who responded with riot dispersal methods, the military said.

Gunshots were also heard during an arrest raid in Jenin.

The president noted American forces had cleared Iranian mines, while U.N. envoy Mike Waltz argued economic sanctions outweigh military strikes.
