Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar on Tuesday hosted Germany’s Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy, Katherina Reiche, in Jerusalem, where they discussed combating antisemitism, among other issues.

Sa’ar called Reiche “a true friend of Israel,” adding, “We discussed the horrific antisemitic terror attack in Sydney, Australia.”

“The meaning of ‘Globalize the Intifada,’ which was chanted for the past two years, is simply killing Jews everywhere. That’s exactly what happened in Sydney,” said Sa’ar.

He also praised the outlawing of the antisemitic phrase “From the River to the Sea, Palestine Will Be Free” in some German states.

“We appreciate the Federal Minister’s friendship and strong support,” he added.

Before her departure, Reiche told German media that, “the close economic ties between the two countries [Germany and Israel] are a key anchor of the relationship,” the Jüdische Allgemeine newspaper reported.

The trip aims to bring the two economies closer together, including fostering ties between Israeli high-tech companies and German industry, the outlet quoted Reiche as saying.
