Hollywood actress Sydney Sweeney wore a Marilyn Monroe-inspired dress by Israeli fashion house Galia Lahav on Monday night at the Los Angeles premiere of her new film,“The Housemaid.”

Lahav began her career studying at the Teachers’ Seminary for Handicrafts and Art in Givatayim, Israel. She worked as an art teacher at an elementary school in Ashdod before opening a small fashion studio in 1985, specializing in wedding dresses and intricate lace.

From the local studio, her brand expanded to Dizengoff Street in Tel Aviv and eventually to a four-story building on the city’s Herzl Street.

Today, Galia Lahav is a global brand with stores in Tel Aviv, Los Angeles and Hamburg, and around 70 points of sale worldwide. In 2016, the company made history by joining the French Federation of Haute Couture, becoming the first Israeli fashion house to achieve the distinction.
