In a sign that the coronavirus is continuing to spread in Israel, the reproduction rate on Saturday surpassed 1.

According to a Health Ministry statement, the reproduction rate now stands at 1.02.

A similar change in infection trends has also been seen in several countries in Europe.

Of the 45,213 people in Israel who tested for the virus on Saturday, 7,783 were found to have the disease, for an infection rate of 21.17%.

There are currently 43,630 active cases.

There are 331 people in serious condition, 143 of whom are on ventilators and 21 of whom are on ECMO machines.

Although 3,708,902 Israelis have recovered from the virus since the outset of the pandemic, 10,419 have died.

This report first appeared in Israel Hayom.
