“Out of an abundance of caution, we are sending a small number of additional U.S. military personnel forward to augment our forces that are already in the region,” the Pentagon said.
The declaration does not affect citizens directly, with the IDF Home Front Command defensive guidelines remaining unchanged as of Monday night.
IAF fighter jets carried out a “targeted strike” in Dahiyeh, a Hezbollah stronghold in south Beirut.
“We do not wait for a threat; we anticipate it. Everywhere, in every sector, at any time,” the prime minister said.
“We are preparing to strike terror targets in the Beqaa Valley in the near future,” the IDF spokesperson announced.
The projectile was intercepted by Israeli Air Force fighter jets.
“Indiscriminate method” used in the wave of Hezbollah beeper explosions is “unacceptable,” aimed “to spread terror in Lebanon,” said the outgoing E.U. foreign policy chief.
The IDF warned civilians in South Lebanon to leave homes used by the Iranian-backed terror organization.
“The price that Hezbollah is paying has increased, our attacks will increase,” said IDF chief Herzi Halevi during a visit to an IAF base.
The IDF’s’ achievements have been “extremely impressive,” said the defense minister.
Hezbollah has long threatened to invade the Galilee.
“We will do everything necessary to fulfill the mission,” Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said.
