The Jewish state held its second national day of mourning for the military and civilian victims of the Hamas-led terrorist massacre of Oct. 7, 2023.
The Israeli president paid his respects “to honor and salute the heroes of Israel as we await the return of the kidnapped for whom they fought.”
“Our hearts are with the fallen, their families, and the wounded. We are determined to achieve a clear victory—without compromise—whether in Gaza, Southern Lebanon, or northern Samaria. We will defend ourselves against any threat,” said the Israeli defense minister.
There will be 36 torchbearers at the ceremony on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
The logo incorporates a graphic fusion of the Star of David and the number 77 symbolizing the bond and shared hopes among a diverse Israeli society.
“I stand before you today, knowing that no words can mend the world that was destroyed,” he said, during the official memorial on Sunday at Mt. Herzl in Jerusalem.

In his eulogy, the father of Maj. (res.) Moshe Yedidyah Leiter asked Joe Biden to “cease and desist” his calls for a ceasefire.
The 20-year-old fought “bravely in a fierce battle,” said the Israeli military.
A 26-year-old Kfar Saba resident admitted to writing the letter, which included threats against the life of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The prime minister spoke at a cornerstone-laying ceremony on Mount Herzl.
