They traveled to Washington to thank officials who were involved in securing the release of their sons’ remains from the Gaza Strip.
“The Neutras so deserve the opportunity for closure and the opportunity to bury Omer,” stated Ted Deutch, of the American Jewish Committee. “Now, they’ll finally have that.”
The dedication ceremony for Captain Omer Neutra Way comes as his body is still held by Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
“You were my best friend, you made me who I am, thank you for everything,” said his brother, before adding, “Laila tov.”
The 22-year-old Israeli-American, whose death on Oct. 7 was recently confirmed by Israel, “was a good neshama,” or “soul,” said Michelle Rich, who leads teen travel programs of the Conservative Judaism youth movement.
“This horrific news shakes all New Yorkers to our core,” Kathy Hochul said in response to the death of Omer Neutra.
“Omer was barbarically murdered by Hamas in the Oct. 7 attacks,” stated New York Gov. Kathy Hochul. “We pray that his body can be returned to his family, who have been speaking out for him and all hostages since that horrific day.”
Orna and Ronen Neutra addressed the Republican National Convention in Wisconsin. The crowd cheered and chanted, “Bring them home.”
