The ceremony was the first of a series of events planned in conjunction with the Peres Center over the next year.
“People said that I’m a dreamer,” said the Israeli statesman, who lived to 93. “It’s true. But ask me this: What’s wrong? Who said people who don’t dream are right?”
Efrat Duvdevani, director-general of the Peres Center for Peace and Innovation, said “our role is threefold: to raise awareness, especially among youth; to join hands with regional and international partners; and to encourage innovation and startups to tackle these challenges.”
The Playing Fair, Leading Peace program engages university students in a soccer-based, anti-discrimination and leadership training program.

The children, whose neighborhoods were recently the scene of intercommunal tension and violence, each received a toy from Spin Master’s “Paw Patrol” range.
It includes works by well-known artists, including Noa Fein and Keren Farago, who collaborated with Iranian artist Ashkan Roayaee.
“I believe that [Shimon Peres] would have viewed it as the practical realization of his vision for a new Middle East,” said Efrat Duvdevani.
The aim is to increase the number of cities using a tested approach to civic innovation while providing city leaders with reliable ways to adapt and implement solutions that improve the lives of residents.
