Islam Doci, 47, of Orlando, Fla., was sentenced to six years in prison followed by three years of supervised release for making false statements to the FBI relating to his activities in support of the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham, the U.S. Department of Justice announced on Thursday.

Doci pleaded guilty on Oct.15, 2024.

According to the plea agreement and evidence presented at sentencing, Doci promoted ISIS propaganda online and communicated with ISIS members abroad, celebrating the killing of Americans in their communications. He also sent money overseas and facilitated the provision of funds by others to ISIS, according to the department.

Doci then lied on two occasions when interviewed by the FBI about his involvement with and support of the terror group.
