Every year, the 9/11 Living Memorial, dedicated by members of the philanthropic Blank family based in New York, including Edward Blank, Sharon Cosloy Blank, Rebecca Blank, Michael Blank, and May Cohn, welcomes diplomats, ambassadors, politicians, U.S. and Israeli uniformed servicemembers, American high school teenagers, and the families of the victims for a moving ceremony of remembrance.

Chair of Jewish National Fund-USA’s Audit Committee and the visionary behind the memorial, Edward Blank, reflected on the monument’s power during a recent visit. “It has been 22 years since the devastation of 9/11, and we have rebuilt, but we will always remember,” said Blank. “I hope that everyone will have the chance to visit this quiet place of contemplation and reflection, to remember the strength of our bonds and the strength of our values, and to remember the names of the innocents whom we lost and to [remain vigilant] to those who seek to destroy these things.”

In the U.S., an estimated 2,000 people attended 9/11 ceremonies around the country organized by Jewish National Fund-USA’s education department in partnership with local schools, houses of worship, firehouses, and police stations. With over 40 events held from California to New York, the commemorative gatherings served as an opportunity to honor local first responders and security professionals while recognizing the enduring friendship between the U.S. and Israel.
