Yoav Gallant
An interview with Maj. Gen. Patrick S. Ryder, the U.S. Department of Defense Press Secretary, following Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant’s visit to the United States.
The strike represents one of the highest-ranking commanders killed since the Iranian-backed terrorist organization began lobbing northern Israel with rockets, UAVs and anti-tank missiles after Oct. 7.
The Secret Service has started an investigation into one of the incidents.
In his meeting with Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken “underscored that alternatives exist” to an IDF ground invasion of Rafah.
“The United States has abandoned its policy in the U.N. today,” charged Netanyahu in response to the Biden administration’s failure to exercise its veto.
“The lack of a decisive victory in Gaza may bring us closer to a war in the north,” Gallant said ahead of meetings in Washington.
“Gallant and Netanyahu should wear the suit and tie in official meetings and keep the all-black casual look for when they’re on the ground,” Beverly Hallberg, of District Media Group, told JNS.
The Israeli defense minister is scheduled to meet with his American counterpart Lloyd Austin and Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
Senior U.S. officials have said both that Israel needs a plan to protect civilians before going into Rafah and that such protection is impossible.
“Even those who think that we are delaying will soon see that we will reach everyone,” the defense minister told troops in Gaza City.
Israel security forces are on high alert during the holiday.
Netanyahu states that most Israelis firmly support his policy of eliminating remaining Hamas battalions in Rafah.
