By refusing to unload a ship with perceived Jewish ownership, the members of International Longshore and Warehouse Union Local 10 broke the law, says anti-boycott group.
“Amazon employs Palestinians in Tel Aviv and Haifa offices and around the world,” said the letter. “Ignoring the suffering faced by Palestinians and their families at home erases our Palestinian co-workers.”
It’s the first time since 2016 that any American union has officially supported the anti-Israel boycott movement.
“We believe we need a united, all-of-government effort to combat rising anti-Semitism in this country,” they say, citing an uptick in violent acts that have occurred across the country.
In response, members of the campus medical community penned an open letter calling the allegations “defamatory and libelous.” They also claimed that Israel is guilty of “war crimes,” “violent settler-colonialism” and “forced displacement.”
“Policy Order #109 had one clear purpose—to leverage the Cambridge City Council to advance the narrow political interests of advocacy groups whose sole purpose is the demonization, isolation and eventual destruction of the State of Israel,” said Rob Leikind of the American Jewish Committee.

“Thank you for your solidarity,” replied the anti-Israel BDS movement. “From Ferguson to Palestine, our struggles against racism, white supremacy and for a just world are united!”
The announcement is tied to legislation “ … to stop public bodies from imposing their own approach or views about international relations, through preventing boycott, divestment or sanctions campaigns against foreign countries.”
“I stand against apartheid because I believe that all people deserve to live under equal rights, regardless of ethnicity or religion,” said Phara Souffrant Forrest.
“Islam’s 3rd holiest site is being used to stockpile Molotov cocktails and rocks being lobbed at police and Jewish worshippers praying at the Western Wall, below the Temple Mount,” Israeli Ambassador Gilad Erdan tweeted in response to the Michigan legislator.
