“The atmosphere is very tense and scary,” a Jewish mother told JNS. “I don’t feel safe. It’s really heartbreaking.”
Israel’s premier met with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Tel Aviv amid a string of visits by world leaders.
“The terrorist actions of Hamas have no justification, no legitimacy and must be universally condemned,” the countries stated.
“It is imperative that all funding from the German Foreign Office and the Ministry of Development be put to the test,” said German politician Christoph Meyer. “An immediate halt to German funding of E.U. and U.N. programs for Palestine must also not be taboo.”
The sites are the second Jewish ones in Germany to be designated on the Wold Heritage List, which recognizes places of “outstanding universal value.”
