Hamas terrorists on Wednesday launched rockets at Israel from the humanitarian zone in southern Gaza near displaced civilians and a United Nations facility.

The Israeli military on Thursday published visual evidence of the launch site where, around 3:59 p.m., a barrage of 12 rockets was fired at the city of Beersheva.

“The rockets were launched near the tents of Gazan citizens who were evacuated to the south of the Gaza Strip for their protection and near the U.N. facilities,” the IDF said.

Earlier on Wednesday, at 12:52 p.m., Hamas attempted a rocket launch at Israeli territory from the humanitarian zone; it hit in the Gaza Strip, endangering local residents.

Another rocket launch from the humanitarian zone took place at 2:12 p.m.

Asked by JNS if Israel will target Hamas rockets emanating from humanitarian zones, Prime Minister’s Office spokesman Eylon Levy said, “The IDF will continue to attack Hamas wherever it attacks our people from. There will be no immunity for Hamas simply because it chooses to hide behind civilian areas.

“That’s why we’ve been encouraging civilians to evacuate to areas where Hamas has not cynically embedded itself. And we call on the international community again to firmly condemn and put pressure on Hamas and its supporters to end this exploitation of designated humanitarian areas and protected humanitarian zones,” he added.

Palestinian terrorists have fired more than 11,500 rockets towards Israeli territory since Hamas launched a war against the Jewish state on Oct. 7, when thousands of terrorists stormed the border, murdered more than 1,200 persons, mostly civilians, wounded over 5,000 others and took approximately 240 hostages back to Gaza.

Three people were lightly wounded in Israel on Tuesday by rockets fired from the Gaza Strip.

Israel has long noted that Hamas fires rockets from civilian areas, including next to schools, hospitals, mosques and U.N. buildings, and has found evidence of this during its ground operation that began on Oct. 27.

Israeli soldiers found missiles and military gear hidden among U.N. relief supplies in the northern Gaza Strip, the Israel Defense Forces said on Dec. 2.

One hundred ten rockets, including 30 Grad projectiles, were found hidden among boxes belonging to the U.N. Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), which supports Palestinian refugees and their descendants, the IDF said.

The rockets were found inside a home in a densely populated area.
