A bipartisan group of 18 legislators from the U.S. House of Representatives sent a letter to French Prime Minister Emmanual Macron calling for continued arms sales to back Israel’s campaign to crush Hamas and recover hostages in the Gaza Strip who have been held by terrorists for more than a year.

Reps. Josh Gottheimer (D-N.J.) and Joe Wilson (R-S.C.) brought together members of both parties on Oct. 29, who called on France to reverse its planned block of arms sales and “support Israel in its efforts to root out terrorism, defend her citizens and secure the safe return of all the remaining 101 hostages before it is too late.”

The lawmakers stated that “now, more than ever, Israel needs strong allies reinforcing their commitment to her security, not adopting policies that embolden those seeking her destruction.”

They warned that Iran and its terror proxies also present a threat to “the existing world order, and to the lives of American and French citizens.”

Signatories included Reps. Don Davis (D-N.C.), Anthony D’Esposito (R-N.Y.), Dan Goldman (D-N.Y.), Mike Lawler (R-N.Y.), Kathy Manning (D-N.C.), Jared Moskowitz (D-Fla.), Donald Norcross (D-N.J.), Darren Soto (D-Fla.), Haley Stevens (D-Mich.), Tom Suozzi (D-N.Y.), Claudia Tenney (R-N.Y.), Shri Thanedar (D-Mich.), Ritchie Torres (D-N.Y.), Mike Turner (R-Ohio), Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) and Brandon Williams (R-N.Y.).
